Meet Dr. Marilyn L. Sails, DSW, MSW, LCSW-S
Hello, I’m Dr. Marilyn L. Sails, the owner and licensed practitioner of Comfort Care Counseling with Dr. Sails. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for the State of Kentucky with more than a decade of experience supporting older adults and families through life’s most tender transitions. I hold both a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Kentucky, and I have dedicated my career to helping individuals navigate grief, trauma, chronic illness, and end‑of‑life concerns with dignity, compassion, and hope.
In addition to my clinical practice, I am also an assistant professor teaching social work in higher education, where I have the privilege of preparing the next generation of social workers with the knowledge, ethics, and heart needed for this meaningful profession. I serve as a State of Kentucky Certified Clinical Social Work Supervisor (S), a State of Kentucky DUI Certified Instructor, and a State of Kentucky Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer.
My commitment to service extends beyond the classroom and clinic. In 2014, my husband and I founded Basix6 Homeless Outreach Ministry, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting the unhoused—one person at a time. This ministry reflects our shared belief in meeting people where
My practice is rooted in Christian faith and designed especially for adults 50 and older. Whether we meet in my office, through telehealth, or in the comfort of your home, you’ll find a safe, supportive space where emotional healing and spiritual restoration work together.
On a personal note, I have been married for nearly thirty‑five years, and my husband and I are blessed with one precious daughter with special needs who joined our family through adoption as a toddler. Our journey as a family has shaped my heart for caregiving, resilience, and grace—values that deeply inform the work I do each day.

Comfort Care Counseling with Dr. Sails exists to provide compassionate, faith‑rooted therapeutic support that nurtures emotional healing, spiritual renewal, and personal resilience for adults navigating the challenges of aging. Grounded in Christian values and clinical excellence, the mission is to create a safe, grace‑centered space, whether in office, through telehealth, or in the home, where each client is honored, heard, and empowered to rediscover peace, purpose, and hope in every season of life.

I am best positioned to serve adults 50 and over who are navigating life transitions, grief, anxiety, or the challenges of aging who are seeking a supportive, faith-informed space to reflect and grow.
